Polychrome Jasper is a colorful new discovery from Madagascar! Geologists discovered it in 2006 while searching for the currently mined out Ocean Jasper. The name means multicolored jasper and is a broad term for three new jaspers from 3 separate mines in close proximity to the famous Ocean Jasper mine. These 3 jaspers are Peninsula Jasper, Sunset Jasper, and one yet unnamed jasper. Still, extensive information is difficult to come by, however it is known to be a silicon dioxide with a hardness of 6.5.
